One day Lulu was eating some soup. She was also eating some grapes. Then she put her spoon on the table. And one of the grapes rolled onto the top end of the spoon handle. Lulu held the bowl to her mouth to finish the last of the soup. When she put her bowl down, it banged onto the spoon scoop. When that happened, the handle of the spoon bounced up. And the grape that was on the end of the spoon handle went flying up through the air, and landed on the table.
Lulu saw that and laughed. She wondered if she could do it again. She moved the bowl aside. Then she put another grape on the end of the spoon. And she used her hand to quickly push down on the spoon scoop. Again the grape flew up and then fell onto the table. Then Lulu moved the spoon directly in front of her. The spoon scoop was pointing towards her, and the spoon handle was pointing away.
She wanted to see if she could catch the flying grape in her mouth. She put a grape on the end of the spoon handle. And she quickly pushed down on the spoon scoop. The grape flew towards her and bounced off her forehead. She laughed and tried again. The second time the grape flew towards her and bounced off her cheek. She laughed and saw that she was getting closer.
She tried again, and this time the grape flew towards her face, and she caught it in her mouth. Lulu smiled and ate the grape. Then the phone rang and Lulu answered it. Jimmy was calling to invite Lulu to play at the park. Lulu said that would be nice. She packed up her backpack, and put some grapes and the spoon in it. She wanted to show Jimmy her new trick.
Then she got her bicycle out, and rode it to the park. When she arrived at the park, she sat down on a bench. Soon Jimmy came to the park, and he saw Lulu on the bench. He went over to her and she told him that she had something funny to show him. She took out the grapes, and the spoon. She put the spoon on the bench, then she put a grape on the end of the spoon handle.
Jimmy watched as Lulu quickly pushed down on the spoon scoop, and the grape flew up. Then Lulu caught the grape with her mouth and ate it. Jimmy wanted to try. He put a grape on the handle and pushed down on the scoop. But the grape just flew over his head and landed on the ground behind Jimmy. Lulu and Jimmy laughed. Then they saw a squirrel run down from a tree and it ate the grape.
Then Jimmy pointed the spoon at the squirrel, and put a grape on the handle. He quickly pushed down on the scoop and the grape flew towards the squirrel. A second squirrel ran in front of the first squirrel, and jumped up and caught the grape, and ate it. Jimmy and Lulu laughed again. Now they wanted to play on the playground nearby. They put the rest of the grapes in the backpack, but left the spoon on the bench.
When Lulu and Jimmy were at the playground, the two squirrels went to the bench to look for the grapes. The first squirrel sat on the handle of the spoon. And the second squirrel climbed onto the backpack. It couldn’t get into the backpack, and then it jumped onto the spoon scoop. The first squirrel was bounced up off the spoon, and it was thrown into the tree. The second squirrel ran off after the first squirrel.
Lulu and Jimmy were walking back to the bench when they saw that happen. Then they wondered if they could do the same thing themselves with a bigger spoon. Lulu and Jimmy went to the store of giant things. And they bought a giant spoon. It was as tall as them. They brought it back to the park, and they set it down under a tree. Lulu stood on the handle of the giant spoon.
And Jimmy stood near the giant spoon scoop. He jumped up and landed on the scoop, and that bounced the handle up and threw Lulu high into the air. She flew up and then landed on top of Jimmy and knocked him down. They both laughed and got up. Now it was Jimmy’s turn. He stood on the giant handle, and Lulu stood near the giant scoop. She jumped onto the giant scoop, but it didn’t move.
Then she thought to stand on the bench, and jump off it onto the scoop. When she did that, this time the giant handle bounced up very fast. And it threw Jimmy up very high, and he landed on the top of the tree. He laughed and climbed back down. Lulu and Jimmy realized that there was no way to control where the giant spoon was going to throw them when they jumped on it.
They decided to return the giant spoon to the store. Then it was time to go home, and Lulu and Jimmy said goodbye to each other. Lulu went home and got ready for dinner. During dinner Lulu wanted to show her parents what she could do with the spoon. She put a piece of carrot on the spoon handle and tried to catch it with her mouth.
But when she pushed on the scoop, the carrot just bounced off her face. Her parents told her not to play with her food. Lulu smiled and kept eating. After dinner, Lulu helped clean up the dishes. Then she got ready for bed and brushed her teeth. She read a little bit from a book. Then she laid down and closed her eyes, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
