The bumbleberry bush

One day a bunch of children were going for a walk altogether, and then it started to rain. They saw a giant tree down the street, that had big branches and leaves, and it was mostly dry under the tree.

The children ran to the tree and stood under it to wait for the rain to finish. While they were standing under the tree one of the children said, “hey look it’s a bumbleberry bush.” And sure enough there was a very small bumbleberry bush behind the tree, which the other children didn’t see before.

Then they all gathered around it and they saw that it had some berries on it. They had the idea to collect some of the berries and take it home to share with their families. So one of the children who was wearing a hat, held out the hat. The other children picked some of the most ripe berries off the bumbleberry bush, and put those in the hat.

When they filled up they hat, they were ready to go, and it had stopped raining by then. They all walked together to one of their homes, and they enjoyed eating the fresh berries. The next day the children went back to the bumbleberry bush to collect more berries to bake a bumbleberry pie.

They brought a basket with them, to collect enough strawberries to make a nice pie. They walked to the bumbleberry bush, and filled the basket with berries, then walked to one of their homes. Their parents helped them get ready to make a bumbleberry pie.

They got out some flour and made dough for the crust. Then they put the berries in a blender to chop them all up and make a smooth paste. They boiled the berries to make it thick and added some more ingredients.

Then they poured the strawberry mix onto the dough in a pie pan, and put that in the oven and baked it for half an hour. When it was done, they took out the pie and let it cool down.

After the pie cooled down, they all shared the fresh bumbleberry pie from the bumbleberry bush that was under the giant tree. After eating the pie, they were all very tired, so they laid down to take a nap, and they went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.

(my niece asked for a story that had a bumbleberry bush, which she made up)

Hello world, I am embarking on a project in which I am writing children’s stories. The main inspiration for me is my three year old niece, who lives far away.
