One day Lulu was reading about how clothes are made. While she was reading, she learned that sometimes people make their own blankets. Lulu wanted to try, and she got some thread and a needle. Then Lulu needed some fabric. She had some old white shirts that had holes in the arms, which she didn’t wear anymore. She cut up those shirts into small squares.

Then she drew different things on the squares she had cut out of the shirt. She wanted to draw different fruits. On the first square cloth she drew some bananas. On the second square cloth she drew some strawberries. On the third square cloth she drew some grapes. On the fourth square cloth she drew some mangos. On the fifth square cloth she drew some apples. On the sixth square cloth she drew some oranges.

Next Lulu cut some more squares of cloth and she drew the shape of her hand on those squares. Then Lulu sewed all the square pieces of cloth together, and it made a big rectangle. There were drawings of fruit and hands on Lulu’s blanket. Now Lulu wanted to show her friend Sally what she had made.

Lulu went to Sally’s home and brought the blanket with her. When Sally saw it, she thought it looked very nice. And Sally wanted to make one also. Lulu asked Sally if she had any old shirts that she didn’t wear anymore. Sally said yes and she took them out of the closet. Lulu told Sally to cut out square shapes from the old shirts. Sally did that and now had some square cloth pieces.

Since Lulu made a blanket of fruit drawings, Sally wanted to make a blanket of vegetable drawings. There were six square pieces of cloth that Sally had cut. On the first square cloth she drew some lettuce. On the second square cloth she drew some broccoli. On the third square cloth she drew some carrots. On the fourth square cloth she drew some celery. On the fifth square cloth she drew some potatoes. On the sixth square cloth she drew some corn.

Next Sally cut some more squares of cloth and she drew the shape of feet. Then Sally sewed all the square pieces of cloth together, and it made a big rectangle. There were drawings of vegetables and feet on Sally’s blanket. Lulu liked it very much. Sally and Lulu decided to exchange blankets. Now Lulu got to keep the vegetable drawing blanket, and Sally got to keep the fruit drawing blanket.

Then they were finished and Lulu went home. When Lulu got home, she ate some dinner. After dinner, she brushed her teeth and laid down with the new homemade blanket from Sally. Then Lulu went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly .
