Lulu and the snail

One day Lulu went for a scooter ride outside, and was scooting along safely down the street. Lulu saw something on the ground, and she stopped to take a look at it. At first it looked like a small rock, but it was moving very slowly.

Then Lulu leaned in closer and looked more carefully, and then she saw that it was actually a snail. It had a small shell with curved lines on it, and the snail was inside it, except for it’s foot and head, which was sticking out only a little bit.

Then Lulu had an idea for something funny, and she scooted back home on her scooter. She got an empty box, and she drew some curved lines on it, and cut some holes in the sides and one end, and she put her arms through the holes on the side, and her head through the hole on the end.

And now she could pretend to be a snail, with the box looking like a snail shell on her. Then she got on her scooter and went for a scooter ride again, but this time she went very slowly, because she was pretending to be a snail. As she left her building one of Lulu’s neighbors saw her and said hello, and asked what she was dressed up as.

Lulu said that she was pretending to be a snail. So the neighbor said “hello snail,” and held the building door open, and Lulu went through the door very slowly. Lulu went back to the same spot where she first saw the snail and looked for it, but she couldn’t find it. She thought she saw it, but she was looking at a small stone.

Lulu kept looking around, and then she saw the snail was under a leaf. So then Lulu got an idea, and she scooted slowly back home. When she got inside, she took the box off, and she got a green coloring pencil and she started to draw some green leaves on the box.

When she was done, she thought the box looked like a snail shell under some leaves. Then she went out again on her scooter, wearing the box like a snail shell. When she was leaving the building, a different neighbor was coming into the front entrance, and said hello. They asked her what she was dressed as, and Lulu said she was pretending to be a snail under some leaves.

This neighbor said they thought she was a bush with leaves, and Lulu laughed and said she wasn’t dressed as a bush, but as a snail. Then she scooted slowly back down the street to the spot where she had last seen the snail. She looked around for it, and couldn’t see it. Then she spotted it on the side of the tree, as the snail was crawling up.

Lulu got another idea, and she scooted slowly back home. When she got inside, she took the box off and she got a brown coloring pencil and she started to draw some tree branches on the box. When she was done, she thought the box looked like a snail shell under some leaves, with tree branches on it.

Then she went out again on her scooter, wearing the box like a snail shell. When she was leaving the building another neighbor was going outside, and they held the front entrance open for Lulu and said hello to her. They asked her if she was dressed as a stick on a bush, and Lulu laughed. She said nope, and explained that she was dressed as a snail under some leaves, on a tree branch.

Then Lulu scooted slowly back down the street to the spot where she had last seen the snail. Now she couldn’t see the snail anywhere, even though she looked around all over. So Lulu kept scooting to the park, and when she got there, some people saw her and asked her what she was dressed as.

Lulu explained that she was dressed as a snail. The people thanked her for explaining. Then Lulu decided she wanted to make it easier for people to know what she was. So she scooted back home, and got a marker and wrote with big letters the word “snail” on the box.

Then she went back outside, and when she was leaving her building a neighbor was coming in and said “hello snail” to her. Lulu smiled and kept scooted slowly down the street. When Lulu got to the park, there were some people there, and they saw her and also said, “hello snail.” Again, Lulu smiled. She was glad that she labeled her box clearly so that people knew what she was without getting confused.

Then she played in the park, pretending to be a snail. When she finished playing in the park, she went back home. At home, she ate her dinner and got ready for bed. Lulu was tired from pretending to be a snail all day long. And she went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
