One day Lulu was walking in her neighborhood, when she heard something. She listened carefully and it sounded like music. But she wondered where it was coming from. When she looked around, but couldn’t see what was making the music.

She thought maybe the music was coming from a car that was stopped at a red traffic light. But then the traffic light turned green and the car drove away, and Lulu could still hear the music. Lulu kept walking until she could hear the music become louder as she got closer to it.

Finally Lulu walked all the way down the street to a big field near the park. And there she saw some musicians playing some instruments. They were playing the guitar, and the drums, and also a piano. Lulu asked them what they were doing there.

They told her they were a new musical group, and they wanted to practice playing music for people outside. Lulu asked them what the name of their musical group was. And they said they were called The Wonderful Whispers. Lulu thought that this was a very nice name. The musicians told Lulu that they wanted to play music for anybody who would pay them for it.

But people didn’t know anything about them, because there was no sign. Then Lulu had an idea to make a sign for this musical group. Lulu went home and got a very big piece of cardboard. It was as big as she was when standing up. And it was as wide as her arms stretched out.

Lulu was going to write on the cardboard, and she got out her crayons. At the top of the cardboard she wrote three words, “The Wonderful Whispers.” That was the name of the musical group, and it was drawn big, from the left side to the right side of the cardboard sign. Then under the words, Lulu drew their instruments. She drew a guitar. She drew some drums. And she drew a piano.

At the bottom of the cardboard sign, Lulu wrote the words, “We want to play music for you.” She wrote that in big letters, also from the left side to the right side of the cardboard sign. Then Lulu carried the sign all the way back to the big field near the park. She put the cardboard sign she made in front of the musicians.

They continued to play their music, and now people were gathering around. Some of the people who saw the sign, started to dance around the musicians. They were all having a good time. Then somebody walked up and introduced themselves to the musicians. This person owned a restaurant nearby.

The restaurant owner told the musicians it would be nice to have them play music in the restaurant. The musicians said they would like that very much. They thanked Lulu for making the sign for them, because it is what made the restaurant owner come and talk to the musicians.

The next day Lulu was going back home from the playground, and she heard some music coming from nearby. Then as she walked by the restaurant she looked inside and she saw the musicians playing the guitar, the drums, and the piano. Lulu saw that the sign she had made for them was hanging on the wall behind them, and that made her smile. Then Lulu was smiling as she walked all the way home, slowly slowly slowly.
