One day there was a little caterpillar that was crawling on the ground in the park. There were some fallen leaves on the ground, and the caterpillar crawled onto the leaves. Then all of a sudden there was a big whoosh sound, and the leaves were all bunched up. There was a park worker sweeping up the leaves on the ground.
The park worker put the leaves into a trash can. The caterpillar crawled up out of the trash can, and fell onto a bench nearby. The caterpillar kept crawling, and crawled up into a handbag. There was a lady sitting on the bench in the park, and the handbag was hers. She picked up the handbag and walked to the bus stop.
When the bus arrived the lady got on the bus and sat down. The caterpillar crawled out of her handbag and onto the seat next to her. There was a boy with a backpack nearby. The caterpillar crawled into the backpack. Then the boy rang the bell on the bus, and the bus stopped.
The boy got off the bus and walked to the library. At the library the boy went to a desk, and put his backpack on it. Then he went to go look for some books. The caterpillar crawled out of the backpack and onto the desk. There was a cart of books next to the desk. The caterpillar crawled onto the cart of books.
Then the librarian came and pushed the cart of books away from the desk. The caterpillar crawled onto the top of one of the books. The librarian put the books on the bookshelf. The book the caterpillar crawled onto was about butterflies. Then there was a little girl who came into the library. It was Lulu.
She came to the library to borrow some books to bring home. Lulu walked around and found some books she wanted to read. One of the books was about butterflies. And Lulu didn’t see that there was a caterpillar on the book. She borrowed the books and put them in her backpack.
The caterpillar was also in her backpack along with the other books. When Lulu arrived at home, she took out the books and put them on the table. Then the caterpillar crawled behind the stack of books. Lulu read the book about butterflies. She read that butterflies start as caterpillars.
And then caterpillars make little cocoons, which is like a small container. And after a few days, the caterpillar becomes a butterfly inside the cocoon. Then the cocoon opens and the butterfly flies out. Lulu put down the book, and then she saw the caterpillar crawling on the table. Lulu wondered where it came from, and she picked it up and put it in a bowl.
Then she went outside and put it in a flower pot. After a few days, Lulu saw that the caterpillar had made a cocoon, which looked like a tiny pillowcase. Then she watched as the cocoon opened and a butterfly came out. It flapped it’s small wings and started to fly around. It landed on one of the flowers. Lulu saw that the butterfly had very colorful wings.
Then Lulu got out her notebook and drew a picture of the butterfly. And she got some coloring pencils and colored the wings of her butterfly drawing, many different colors. When she was done. she cut out the butterfly from her notebook. And she got some thread and tape.
Lulu took a length of thread, and taped one end to the back of her colorful butterfly drawing. Then she asked her mommy to tape the other end of the thread to the ceiling above the bed. Now Lulu had a butterfly drawing hanging down from the ceiling. It was evening now, and time for dinner.
Lulu sat down and ate dinner with her parents. Then after dinner, she brushed her teeth and got ready for bed. Lulu laid down and could see the butterfly drawing above her. She closed her eyes, and began dreaming about butterflies, and went to sleep, slowly slowly slowly.
